Cup of Columbines

Sunday, May 20, 2018

The Coffee Loving Cardmakers are thrilled to be sharing some exciting news.  In addition to the absolutely gorgeous digital images that Poppy Power Owner/Designer Marcella Hawley carries, now her incredibly fabulous designs come in clear stamps!  I'll be purchasing some Poppy Power clear stamps, but I want them all and can't decide which ones - thankfully, there's a sale!

One of the new stamp sets, Cheerful Columbines, is so beautiful and even more perfect with the blooms in a tea cup!  The first time I ever saw a Columbine was during my very first business trip - Vail, Colorado.  We were executing an incentive event and I was setting up a reception up on a mountain and noticed all these pretty, delicate purple flowers.  Asking one of the catering folks what the flowers were, I learned they were Columbines; they come in many colors, are part of the buttercup family and are mostly found in high/cooler elevations.

I'm really happy how my card turned out and wanted to share it in these challenges:

Puppy Paws Birthday

Saturday, May 19, 2018

I forget birthdays all the time.  It's not something I'm proud of since I have a stash of birthday cards!  Thankfully, no one has put me in the dog house yet, but I probably deserve it :)

Reverse Confetti's Paw Prints stamp set and coordinating dies are perfect for me.  This little pup is so cute I think people will forgive me for being so forgetful.  And to make it even better,  proceeds from this stamp set will be donated to local area shelters and rescue groups!!

Thanks to these challenges for the inspiration for my card:

Dies R Us - Crate Full of Blooms

Friday, May 18, 2018

It's so exciting to have Spring here!  Over the past several weeks, everything bloomed, the weather has been gorgeous and there's color in my world again - yay!!  To celebrate, I pulled several dies from the Elizabeth Craft and Karen Burniston lines.

To start, I cut kraft cardstock using the Wooden Fruit Crate from Elizabeth Crafts.  Love this die!  It's such a great country-looking crate and so unique.

The next step, I used Karen Burniston's Flowers and Bee dies to cut all the pretty flower pieces, leaves and bee.  What an awesome set!  I know I'll be using this one alot -- there are so many color schemes to go with!

Then came the really fun part (seriously, I enjoyed this!)...putting the crate of blooms together!!  I used a Zig 2-way Glue Pen, Thermoweb 3d Foam Squares to add dimension/pop up the die cuts and Thermoweb Small Clear Zots here and there as I arranged the flowers and leaves.

To create the card, I layered on the base a pattern paper design  from this beautiful Echo Park 6x6 paper pad: Welcome Home.  I adhered my flower crate then added the tiny red flowers and bee from the Flowers and Bee set and the 'Thinking of You' sentiment from Karen Burniston's Greetings word set.

I Did It - Giveaway!

Wednesday, May 16, 2018

I am SO happy! After months of studying for an exam (not an easy feat for this old brain) for a very important certification for my job, I PASSED!  I honestly surprised myself :)

To celebrate, I'm having a giveaway for this super fun Reverse Confetti Figure of Speech stamp set (new in package)!  Simply leave a comment by Friday, May 25th.  Winner will be announced on Saturday, May 26th.

I'm also celebrating by playing in a few challenges (giddiness made me want to create something fun!)

For my card, I created a colorful background using several Reverse Confetti inks and the Lotsa Dots stencil. I spritzed some Tim Holtz resist spray over the background to create a shiny texture (see next photo). I then stamped several of the Figure of Speech phrases in Midnight ink, die cut and popped them up.  To finish, I added a few clear sequins.

Thanks to these challenges for the inspiration for my card design and letting me celebrate with them:

Paper Sweeties May Release Rewind!

Hope you've been enjoying the projects over the last few days featuring Paper Sweeties May Release goodies!!

The darling box die (with fabulous word dies that are perfect for tags and such) is so versatile and perfect to fill with sweet treats, gift cards - or a special tea!  For my first Treat Box, I placed a piece of patter paper on the front/back/sides of the box then added the scallop borders using Sweet Borders Sweet Cuts.  The cup and birdie are from the You Warm My Heart stamp set and coordinating dies.  The sentiment is from the new Hay, Y'all stamp set!

My last Treat Box project was created by first using pattern paper for the box.  I then used the You Warm My Heart stamp set and coordinating dies to 'decorate' the box.  To finish, I added the Stitched Tags #1 die cut stamped with a sentiment from the new Hay, Y'all stamp set and tied with Frosting Seam binding.
